Understanding the Church
“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Foundational teaching
The church is not a building or merely a weekly gathering. It is a community of believers united in Christ — a spiritual family where we grow together, support one another, and work together to fulfill God's purposes. Every member has a part to play, and the whole body grows as each part works.
What this means for you
You are not meant to follow Jesus alone. A local church gives you people who will teach you, pray for you, and notice when you are struggling. It will be imperfect, because it is full of people like you — and it is still God's plan.

Guided prayer
Father, thank You that You place us in a family. Lead me to a church where Your Word is honored and where I can grow and serve. Help me speak the truth in love. Amen.
