Multiply Disciples

Day 30 of 30

Commitment to Ongoing Discipleship

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

Foundational teaching

Discipleship is the lifelong process of following Jesus, learning from Him, and helping others follow Him — so your journey of faith does not end here; it is only beginning. Be both a disciple and someone who helps make disciples. Walk in obedience and faith, so that others see and give glory to God.

What this means for you

A light is not for itself. As your life changes, people will notice — and the point is that they see God, not you. The next thirty days matter as much as the last thirty. Keep walking, and take someone with you.

Reflection questions

  1. What steps can you take to begin helping others follow Jesus?
  2. Where is your life already shining in a way that points to God?
  3. What do you want to be true of you a year from now?

My first step

Write your own commitment to ongoing discipleship, then tell one person about it so you are not carrying it alone.

Guided prayer

Father, thank You for these thirty days and for everything You have shown me. Let my life shine so that people see You and give You glory. Make me a disciple who helps others follow Jesus. In Jesus' name, Amen.
