Live with Purpose

Day 20 of 30

Overcoming Temptation

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

Foundational teaching

Temptation is a common human experience, but believers are not left defenseless. God provides strength and means to resist: His Word, the Holy Spirit at work within us, and the support of other Christians who will walk with us honestly.

What this means for you

Being tempted is not the same as sinning, and you are not uniquely broken. God promises a way of escape — often a practical one: leave the room, close the app, call a friend, say it out loud to someone you trust. Taking that exit is not weakness; it is wisdom.

Reflection questions

  1. How has relying on God helped you resist temptation before?
  2. What is your most likely point of temptation this week?
  3. What practical way of escape can you plan in advance?

My first step

Name one recurring temptation and decide now on one concrete step you will take the next time it comes.

Guided prayer

Father, You are faithful. Thank You that You always provide a way of escape. Give me eyes to see it and the will to take it, and let me not walk alone. Amen.
