The Significance of Baptism
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Foundational teaching
Baptism is an act of obedience to Jesus and a public identification with Him — a visible declaration that we have turned from sin and belong to Christ. It is not a work that earns salvation; salvation is God's gift, received by faith in Christ alone. Baptism testifies to what God has already done, picturing death to the old life and resurrection to a new one.

If you have trusted Christ and have not been baptized, this is a natural and joyful next step to talk over with a pastor. If you have been baptized, remember what it declared: the old life is buried, and you now walk in newness of life.
