The Humanity and Divinity of Jesus
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Foundational teaching
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. His humanity means He was truly human. His divinity means He is truly God. This is a mystery at the heart of the Christian faith. It is also the reason He can be the One who brings us back to God. Because Jesus was truly human, He felt our struggles and temptations Himself. Yet He never sinned. That is why He could be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Because Jesus is truly God, He has power over death and the authority to forgive.
What this means for you
Jesus is not distant from your experience. He knows hunger, grief, exhaustion, and temptation from the inside. At the same time, He is God, so His promises are not wishful thinking. You can bring Him your weakness and trust His strength in the same breath.
