Day 5 of 30
The Teachings of Jesus
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Foundational teaching
The teachings of Jesus are the foundation of Christian life. His words call us to love, to forgive, and to live in a way that pleases God. When we put His teaching into practice, we build our lives on a foundation that holds up under pressure. His stories and commands are not ideas that sound good but stay on the page; they are the path of life.
What this means for you
Jesus draws a line between hearing and doing. Both people in His story heard the same words; only one built on them. Growth comes from small, repeated obedience — forgiving the person you would rather avoid, telling the truth when a lie is easier.
Reflection questions
- Which teaching of Jesus challenges you most, and why?
- Where are you hearing without doing?
- What would obedience look like in one concrete situation this week?
My first step
Choose one instruction of Jesus from Matthew 5–7 and act on it before the day ends.
Guided prayer
Lord, I do not only want to admire Your words; I want to live them. Give me courage to obey the thing I have been avoiding. Build my life on rock. Amen.
